PMIGlobalAccreditationCenter for Project Management Approves
Programmes by Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
Programmatic accreditation through PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project
Management (GAC)
means that an institution's project management degree programme conforms to a
comprehensive international standard. It also signifies deep commitment of the
institution and its faculty to ongoing evaluation and continuous quality
improvement.
The PMI GACBoard recently voted to
accredit the following degree programmes:
Royal Melbourne Institute of TechnologyUniversity,
School of Property, Construction and Project
Management:
Doctor of Project Management (DPM)
Master of Project Management (MPM)
The DPM is a distance learning
professional doctorate that is consistent with a PhD programme at many other
universities. The only exception is that approximately one third of the
coursework in the program is delivered online.
A key strength of the DPM is its
close alignment with project management practice. Programme entry requirements
include a relevant masters degree and a minimum of eight years of relevant
project management experience. The programme is undertaken online with a one
week residential component during the first year of the program. Estimated
completion time is four to 4.5 years of study if working full time. The MPM
programme brings together participants from a wide range of backgrounds, all of
whom are interested in developing their knowledge and skills relative to
project management. The programme is delivered face-to-face in the city campus
in Melbourne, Australia. Applicants must have a
first degree as well as five years of relevant experience. Estimated completion
time of the programme is two years if working full time.
Programmatic accreditation through
PMI GAC confirms that the scale and quality of an institution's project
management degree program conforms to a comprehensive international standard.
It also makes a public statement about the deep commitment of the institution
and its faculty to ongoing evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
